27 Nov 11 Projects vs. Cleanliness

Men like to do projects. Women like to have clean, efficient, aesthetically pleasing spaces in which to live and conduct business and family rearing. When a man’s projects and a woman’s tidy home space collide, then grease gets everywhere, or pieces of little models end up mixed in with the magazines and coffee table books, and this is how fights begin. It is a much better scenario for all who are involved to simply make sure that one person in a relationship has his or her own dedicated space, the other person gets the same, and then the rest of the space is shared, with shared rules and tidiness.

The man’s portion of this divided space is often referred to as a man cave, and is also known as a “Mantuary”, or sanctuary for a man. This space is crucial to the happiness of a relationship. It can be located anywhere in the space on a property – a room in the house, the basement, the garage, part of the backyard. Where it is located is not as important as the fact that it exists and that all parties are happy with its location and rules. Once it has been well established that it is a good idea to have a man cave in your house, the next thing to go about doing is to decorate and kit it out with all the best items and activities for you and your buddies. You will most likely want to choose one, several, or all of the following for your man cave space: mini bar, Lazy Boy recliner chair, giant overstuffed sofa, pool table, shuffleboard table, dart board, big screen television, lava lamp, disco ball. Of course all these things can be suited to taste and interest. It’s whatever makes you happy and makes you feel like the space is your own.
